Pneumonia :- Pneumonia is defined as an acute inflammation of lower respiratory tract (lung parenchyma ) associated with recently developed radiological pulmonary shadousing which may be segmental lobar or multi lobar
 Clinical features of pneumonia :
A. Very severe disease :-
1. Stopped feeding well
2. Convulsion
3. Abnormally sleepy or difficult to wake
4. Siridor in calm child
5. Wheezing
6. Fever or low body temperature.
7. Severe under nutrition.

B. Severe pneumonia :-
1. Severe chest in drawing
2. Fast breathing.

C. Pneumonia :-
1. Fast breathing
2. No chest in drawing

 Prevention of pneumonia :- For prevention of pneumonia, the following measures can be taken-
1. Improvement of living condition.
2. Better nutrition
3. Reduction of smoke pollution.
4. Better MCH care.
5. Immunization: Immunization is an important measures to reduce case of pneumonia which ocular as a complication of vaccine preventable disease. Specially meastes. Three vaccines are available that acts against bacterial pneumonia.
(i) Measles vaccine
(ii) Haemophylus influenza B (HIB) vaccine
(iii) Pneumococcal pneumonia vaccine.
