 Prevention of Helminthiosis
A. Primary prevention :-
1. Sanitary disposal of human excreted to prevent or reduce faecal contamination of soil for these
-(i) Use of sanitary latrines
(ii) Chemical disinfectant use before using the human excreta as fertilizer.
2. Provision of safe drinking water.
3. Development of food hygiene habits:-
(i) Eating only of cooked food.
(ii) Precaution in taking green vegetables ones
4. Personal hygiene and changing behavioral pattern.
5. Health education of the community about the control efforts and its active cooperation’s.

B. Secondary Prevention :
1. Anti-helmintics : All positive cases and reservoir should be treated by effective drugs e, g
- Mebedazole 100mg 12 hourly for 3 days for round worm, hook worm, thread worm etc. and nicolsamide. or
- Albendazole 400mg as a single dose
- Pyrantal pamoate 10mg/kg (Minimum 1gm) as a single dose
- levamisole 2.5 mg/kg as a single dose

2. Mass treatment : Mass treatment of preschool going and school going children at intervals of 2 to 3 month for periodic deworming may be undertaken using a single dose of a broad spectrum antihelminthic drug.
C. Correction of anaemia and treatment of other complication.
