Water borne disease :-
A. Disease due to the presence of an infected agent
1. Viral : Viral hepatitis, poliomyelitis, Rota virus diarrhiea in infants.
2. Bacterial : Cholera, typhoid, paratyphoid, Bacillar dysentery, Esch coli diarrhoea.
3. Protozoal :- Amoebiasis,giardiasis
4. Helminthic :- round worm, whipworm, thread worm, Hydatid disease.
5. leptospiral :- Weils disease.
B. Disease due to the presence of an aquatic host
1. Cyclops : Guinae worm , Fish tape worm
2. Snail : Schistosomiasis
Eradication of poliomyelitis :-
A. Favouring points for eradication of polio :-
1. Man is the only host.
2. No long tern carrier state.
3. OPV is easy to administered
4. OPV is cheap
5. Live attenuated viruses in opv multi play in the intestine and interrupt the transmission of the wild virus.
6. OPV induces both humoral & intestinal immunity
7. Antibody is quickly produced.
8. Virus can be transmitted from a recently vaccinated child to close contacts who have not immunized.
9. No insect vector or animal is involved in the transmission of the disease.
10. Having international cooperation.
