Q.5. Name the stages of labour what are the difference between true and false labour
pain?
Labour
The physiological process by which the fetus is expelled from the uterus into the vagina and then to the outside of the body.
Normal labour
Normal labour is defined as one in which the fetus presents by the vertex starts spontaneously at term, and terminates naturally, without artificial aid and without complication.
Stages of labour
1. First stage-->From the onset of true labour pain to full dilatation of the cervix (10cm).
Duration:-
i. primigravidae -->12 hours.
ii. Multiparae --> 6 hours.
2. Second stage--> From Full dilatation of the cervix (100m) to complete expulsion of the foetus.
Duration:-
Primigravidae--> 2 hours.
Multiparae--> 30 minutes.
3. Third stage--> From complete expulsion the foetus to complete expulsion of the placenta.
Duration-->
Primigravidae--> 15 to 30 min Multiparae--> 15 min
